Description: This project is designed to strengthen ACA’s ability to service its members, while simultaneously strengthening the African cashew processors’ capacity to compete in a global industry:

1) ACA will internally strengthen its internal structures and review its staff’s requirements to undergo training while simultaneously reviewing its market information system to update its system and expand the number of its users.

2) ACA will cluster its processors according to geographical location and train them in small workshops with up to 15 participants on productivity and competitiveness, financial management, and costing and budgeting. The workshops will further enable networking and exchange opportunities between like-minded processors.

Grant Period: June 2015- January 2017

Target Countries: Benin, Burkina Faso, Cote d’Ivoire, The Gambia, Ghana, Guinea-Bissau, Mali, Nigeria, Senegal, and Togo

Beneficiaries: Cashew processing managers, market information professionals and data collectors, and ACA staff

Key Outcomes: Improved capacity of ACA Secretariat, improved marketing information system (MIS) data collection and dissemination, strengthened capacity of African cashew processors, especially owners and managers, market linkages between processors and market information professionals. By providing the necessary knowledge and teaching essential skills, this intervention will contribute to increased productivity and thus improve the overall competitiveness of African cashew value chain.
